After receiving her B.A. in English (Conc. Creative Writing) at Indiana University, Kiell worked as a copywriter for motivational speaking company Living Full Out, was part of a team of ghostwriters for the Stone Marshall Studio (under the pen name ‘Rudy Kiell’), and worked freelance illustration gigs, including promotional materials for Beauty & Brains Girls’ STEM Club and a book cover for the Spider Club Mystery series.

Eventually, Kiell realized that she didn't want to just tell stories - she wanted to draw them! So she took herself back to school and, in 2020, graduated summa cum laude from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a B.A. in animation and a focus on Visual Development.
After graduating, Kiell was hired at Bento Box Entertainment, where she worked as 2D animator on HBOMax's The Prince, Netflix's Paradise PD season 4 and Mulligan, and Hulu's Koala Man.
